Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) about Moving House

Q: When should I contact ADT to inform you of my relocation?

You should contact ADT Security,(as a minimum) 4 weeks prior to vacating your premises. Before making contact, please ensure you have a forwarding contact telephone number, or a mobile number.

Q: Do I need to do anything with my Alarm System before I move out?

1. Yes. A security alarm system needs to be decommissioned. Some systems can be decommissioned remotely by our Response Centre, but others require one of our technicians to physically attend the control box and keypad on site. Contact ADT on 131 005 for further information, and the fees associated.

Decommissioning your alarm system will ensure that further phone/connection costs are avoided.

2. Lastly, you will receive a Moving-Out Pack after notifying us of your intention to move. There is an Instruction Sticker in the pack. We ask that you place this sticker over the keypad before you leave – this will assist the new occupants.

Q: Can I take my security system to my new home?

Yes. There are fees associated with decommission and installation. Please contact ADT on 131 005 for a quotation and / or representative to visit your new home for a ‘Free Home Assessment’, as your security system needs may vary from your previous home.

Q: Can my Monitoring Agreement be carried over to my new address?

Yes. Contact ADT Security (131 005) with the following details:-

(a) Your new address, including post code

(b) What is the brand/model of the existing system? (tip: check keypad & if safely accessible check the control panel for brand stickers)

(c) Has the existing system been monitored before? (tip: check around household for stickers/signage that may indicate previously monitored system)

Q: What do I do if I need a new security system in my new address?

Call ADT Security on 131 238 to speak with one of our sales team representatives. In some circumstances we can arrange a quotation over the phone. Although sometimes we will need to organise for a representative to visit your new home and contact a Free Home Assessment.

A Free Home Assessment evaluates the security risks in your home, and ensures you receive a quotation for the right security package to suite your individual needs.
