Smoke Alarms

The NSW government decided to introduce legislation where all homes must have a smoke alarm. This came into effect on 1st May 2006. In some states this legislation already exists and other states are expected to follow.

This is why an ADT monitored home security system can incorporate smoke detection with intruder detection and emergency medical assistance access. These services are monitored back to base, so even if the emergency has escaped your attention, it won’t escape ours.

The key advantages of our smoke alarms are that not only will we alert you to get out of the house but we will also call the fire brigade and/or your emergency contacts if you're away. In addition, the 24 hour monitoring centre can advise you if the battery back up needs replacing or if the system is in fault to ensure it works when you need it most. A compliance certificate can also be supplied if required for selling or insurance purposes. Monitored smoke alarms are always active, even when the security system is not armed, providing you with 24 hour protection.

ADT provides the following Photoelectric Smoke Alarms & Heat Detector to suit different requirments and homes.:

Photoelectric Hardwired Smoke Alarm

Hard wired smoke alarms are interconnected, which means that if one detects smoke, all alarms within the home that are interconnected go off at 85 Db (recommended level by Australian Standard). However the real advantage of an ADT interconnected smoke alarms comes from the fact that the security system's indoor sounder and strobe are also triggered, which means that all areas of the house not just where the fire starts are all alerted to the potental fire.

What Is Triggered?

The Smoke Alarm that detects smoke (sounds at 85 dB)
All Interconnected Smoke Alarms in the home (all sound at 85 dB)
The Indoor Sounder (sounds at 110 dB)
 The External Strobe

Photoelectric Wireless Battery Smoke Alarm

ADT Security provides a wireless smoke alarms for homes that can't have a wired solution. The wireless photoelectric smoke alarm upon detection of smoke will sound at 85 dB (recommended level by Australian Standard). Like the wired solution the Wireless Smoke Alarms are interconnected with the security system's which will trigger the indoor sounder and strobe. Therefore all areas of the home that the indoor sounder can be heard clearly should be alerted to the potential fire.

What Is Triggered?

The Smoke Alarm that detects smoke (sounds at 85 dB)
The Indoor Sounder (sounds at 110 dB)
 The External Strobe

Heat Detector

ADT heat detectors detect both the fixed temperature and the rate of rise in temperature. They are best utilised in the cooking or fast flaming fire hot spots. They should be used in conjunction with Smoke Alarm for full whole home fire detection.

What Is Triggered?

The Heat Detector that detects heat
The Indoor Sounder (sounds at 110 dB)
 The external Strobe

ADT Security has developed the FREE whole home assessment where an ADT representative will come and assess that your home not only complies with legislation, but is also best suited to keeping you and your family safe.
