Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard is one ofthe largest and most comprehensive marine precincts in the southern hemisphere. The family run business had a vision to create a comprehensive facility for the sale, repair and storage of large marine craft. From runabouts to International Superyachts, boat owners find the facilities and services provided by Gold CoastCity Marina (GCCM) second to none.
The marina offers
- Moorings for 100 boats, up to 45 metres,with power and water
- Undercover dry storage facilities
- Over 5 hectares of hardstand area
- 150 and 40 tonne ship lifts to takevessels from the water to hardstand formaintenance.
- World class superyacht facilities includinglockable sheds
56 specialist nautical businesses, all located within the precinct, carry out refit, repair, annual maintenance, blasting, paintwork & new builds. GCCM has earned a reputation as a centre of excellence in marine work.

GCCM has a growing number of international clients choosing to have work performed by the skilled businesses on site. Steve Sammes (GCCM’s CEO) recognised that a reliable andcredible security provider with an international profile was essential to instil confidence in customers, he knew a recognised globalbrand would also enhance GCCM’s profileacross the world.
In searching for a security provider, Steve was looking for a company that could improve levels of service, provide fast response times and an extensive product range, whilst delivering asolution at a competitive price. ADT Security were pleased to partner with GCCM to provide this level of security protection that fits well with the standard of excellence across all their operations.
Total protection
ADT Security took over the contract from the previous security provider and quickly set about upgrading components and making sure the entire system was fully integrated.
ADT Security services included:
- Reprogramming the existing alarm systemto ensure that all sensors reported correctly,including all PIRs and smoke detectorsthroughout offices and sheds
- Resetting precinct lighting controls toconform to GCCM requirements
- Conducting Preventative Maintenance on theexisting Tecom alarm system
- Providing fully supervised alarm monitoring
- Taking over management of on-site securityguards
- Approaching precinct tenants to haveall alarm systems on the 5 hectare sitecoordinated
- Designing a CCTV solution with VisualVerification to monitor access from the water
New security devices were also installed and commissioned across the site and linked to the main system.
Impressive results
One of the most significant and immediate improvements GCCM noticed is the impressive reporting power of ADT Select. The advanced online portal provides easy access to important data about security system performance and events. A number of reports are directly available without having to request them from ADT Security. For example, alarm history and patrol callouts can be itemised for verification –giving real time clarity few security companies can match.
One tenant of the precinct, Coomera Houseboats, has noticed that the number of break-in attempts has reduced to virtually none since ADT Security took over. For some potential intruders, just seeing the ADT Security signs are enough of a visual deterrent.
