With crime being a major issue today in Brisbane and each area suburb having its own unique issues when it comes to security, ADT analyzed the Queensland’s capital most common crimes against home and business properties. Based on recent stats from the Online Crime Map by the Queensland Police Service (August 2018 – July 2019), this analysis can help you to take adequate security measurements to protect your family, home premises and business against crime.
The most common crimes against home and business properties in Brisbane
The data analysed clearly shows theft was with 63,000 cases the most common crime in Brisbane, followed by Unlawful Entry with just over 18,400 cases. Securing your premises with a home or business alarm system seems a necessity in Brisbane, if you want to have it protected against crime.
The most criminal suburbs in Brisbane
Next, we looked at in which suburbs most of these crimes took place. During the reporting period, over 3,700 crimes against homes and properties took place in Brisbane City, making it the suburb where most crimes took place. It is followed by Caboolture with 2,101 cases. Third most criminal suburb was Morayfield with 1,662 incidents, which is nearly half of the number of crimes taken place in the City. Lake Manchester in Brisbane was the suburb with the least crimes; only 8 cases were recorded between August 2018 and July 2019.

Third and last stats we pulled together was looking which crimes against home and properties happened the most in which Brisbane suburb.
Most Unlawful Entries took place in Caboolture with 341 registered entries, followed by Woodridge with 288 unlawful entries. Brisbane City & Slacks Creek complete the Top 5 with 223 and 207 entries respectively.
The criminal act of Arson, deliberately setting fire to a property, happened the most in Elimbah last year, with 26 registered cases, followed by Caboolture with 12 and Beenleigh with 11 cases. Placing smoke detectors in your home of office is always a good security measure to help you detect arson early.
When you occupy a property in Brisbane City, you had the most chance of being victim of Trespassing or Vagrancy as this suburb registered the most of these crime types during August 2018 and July 2019, 137 times. North Ipswich had 100 cases, while Fortitude Valley came in 3rd with 82 cases of trespassing.
Incidents which led to damage to property happened the most in Brisbane City, with 441 registered cases, followed by Caboolture with 338 damaging incidents. Fortitute Valley had 248 cases.
