Can I have a security camera without an alarm system?
Yes, our Wi-Fi package enables you to install an indoor camera and/or outdoor camera.
You can always choose to combine an alarm system package with the ADT Secure Home Fundamentals or Advanced package for added security.
What are the prerequisites for me to install the package?
To be able to install your cameras you need to have:
- A pre-existing power point at the site of installation
- A minimum of 1.5 Mbps internet upload speed is recommended per camera
How are wireless home security cameras different from wired cameras?
The main difference between wired systems and wireless home security cameras is the way they are powered and installed.
Wired systems require a cabled connection between the cameras and a recorder box, whereas a wireless security camera is wire-free, allowing for a quick setup, more flexible placement options and easy repositioning.
Most security cameras that are wireless or wire-free run on rechargeable batteries or can be charged via solar panels. While most people will prefer the convenience of a wireless security camera, a wired option may suit those concerned about cam battery maintenance.
